DIY – Carnival Masks

A festive moment with a hidden face—that’s the spirit of Carnival! While making these masks with the kids, I wanted to share my memories of Carnival in France: the costumes, the street celebrations, and the joyful atmosphere marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring.

Materials :

  • Cardstock paper

  • Pencil

  • Scissors

  • Craft knife

  • Ruler

  • Paint

  • Paintbrushes

  • Colored pencils

  • Hole punch

  • Elastic string

  • Optional: hot glue gun (great for helping little ones stay within the lines)

Step-by-step :

  1. Draw and cut out a mask from the cardstock. Cut out the eye holes with a craft knife (under adult supervision).

  2. Sketch patterns on different areas of the mask with a pencil.

(Optional): Trace over the patterns with a hot glue gun to create defined sections for coloring.

  3. Color and/or paint the different parts of the mask.

  4. Punch two holes on each side and attach the elastic string.

And that’s it! With these beautiful masks, let the festivities begin! 🎭
